We are the hardworking heart of Dublin.

Website

Up to €40 billion of trade flows through Dublin Port each year and the location handles 80% of all containerised freight that comes into the Republic of Ireland. Located in the heart of Dublin City and at the hub of the national road and rail network, Dublin Port is a key strategic access point for Ireland and in particular the Dublin area.

Sustainability is a key part of our strategy as we embark on an ambitious plan to become a leader in sustainable port operations while maintaining our crucial role in Ireland’s economy.

Located in the Dublin Bay UNESCO Biosphere, we have a duty to protect and enhance our marine habitats and ecosystems. We constantly monitor and report on biodiversity outcomes, ensuring our operations do not negatively impact our wide range of marine species that call Dublin Bay their home.

Dublin Port has also committed to sustainable port city development by signing the Agenda 2030 by AIVP (International Association of Ports and Cities) in 2023.

We are proud to achieve the EU EcoPorts certification, meeting the strict environmental requirements of their PERS standard for over 15 years. Our team is also working with partners in Ireland and the UK on a major project to reduce shipping emissions across the Irish Sea through supporting the introduction of innovative new marine fuels.

Sustainability and Supply Chain

Dublin Port is committed to embedding sustainable procurement practices across the organisation and its supply chain and have developed a sustainable procurement policy and supplier code of conduct.

Dublin Port will follow the latest National Green Public Procurement (GPP) Guidance and Criteria for the Public sector.

Green Public Procurement (GPP) is defined as “A process whereby public and semi-public authorities meet their needs for goods, services, works and utilities by choosing solutions that have a reduced impact on the environment throughout their life-cycle, as compared to alternative products/solutions.”

Dublin Port will be guided by the principles of transparency, proportionality, equal treatment, mutual recognition and non-discrimination in procurement processes.
